In Mac OS, Moving Controls or Changing Size may fail and is not consistent

In Mac OS, when attempting to move a control in Design Mode, occasionally the control will not move. Attempting to change the size of a control is just as inconsistent.

If a control is selected by holding the mouse down and moved, the control may or may not move. If the control is selected and the mouse is released and then reselected and held down, the control may or may not move. I haven't found any consistent behavior one way or another.

The layout is a simple test layout. This issue occured with any layout since the inception of the Mac OS version. It's more of an inconvenience to have to attempt to move or resize a control but not an outright failure.

Mac OS Design Mode locked after computer startup

There is an issue with Design Mode Lock. During computer startup (Mac OS), when opening MDP2 (v 2.3330), Design Mode is locked. Need to go to Config > Options to unlock. Then select Already Bought, and Unlock again. MDP2 should remember my purchase.

I believe this existed since MDP2 was available on M1 Macs.

Complex linking of toggles to dials

The controls:

What Dial 1 controls changes what it does on the pedal based on whether Tape, Env or Stretch is selected
The toggles in 2 and 3 are used to quick toggle to set points on dial 1 (based on the mode selected)

What I want to achieve:

Dial 1 to trigger corresponding points on 2 and 3
Toggles 2 and 3 to trigger the dial to move to the point selected

What’s working:

Moving Dial 1 triggers correct points on 2 and 3 when moved
Toggle 3 triggers the dial 1 to jump to the correct point
Toggle 2 sends the correct commands to the pedal

The problem to solve:

Toggle 3 works fine at triggering the the dial to move to specific points. But I can’t get it working alongside using Toggle 2

Chase Bliss Mood: Saving presets onto the pedal

I created a layout for The Chase Bliss Mood MKII and managed to map pretty much everything.

But the one thing I was not able to implement was saving presets directly onto the pedal's memory via the app. Their midi manual says this can be done by sending cc 111, then the preset slot I want to save it to as the value.

But I am not sure how to implement this. I think I could use the picker, but then I'd run into trouble if I did not stop on the exact number I wanted to save it into. Is there a way to use the picker in conjunction with a button - so the picker picks the value and the button sends the cc message when taped based on that value?

Does anyone have an idea on how to get this working please?

Update: I added a page with save a recall buttons. But it would be great to implement with a picker and the method above since there are over 100 slots free.

RD-88 Loading scene including associated tones

Hi guys!

I recently got a Roland RD-88 and downloaded Midi Designer. It's working great, but one thing doesn't work and I'm trying to figure out if it is me, or just not supported.

When I go to the scene tab and move the selector to a scene, the associated tones (1 to 3 depending) are not selected in the other tabs where you can change the layer from Lower, U1, and U2. I understand that setting the 3 tones on the Alphabetic look up tab, won't change it in the other lookup tabs.

Is this a limitation, or just something that wasn't added?

It would be great if when you load a scene or 3 tones on any of the tabs, they would show on the zone tab. Something like the attached mock-up.

If you don't know of any technical reason why it can't be done, I'll attempt to modify the design myself.

Thoughts?

I’ve spent a couple of hours going through forums and support sites trying to resolve this. I’ve tried all of the simple solutions (mostly to reboot the iPad and Mac) and am still stuck.

Attempting to connect my iPad Air 4th-Gen to my Mac Mini 2014 (Monterey) results in failure, and an indication that the Mac Mini is “not supported”

Dead in the water here.

Any suggestions?

How to implement a knob controlling a second knob

I am trying to design a simple function with the following desired behavior

    Tap tick once, Knob 5 advances 1 tick

     Knob 5 wraps around, Knob 4 advances 1 tick.

     Knob 4 wraps around, Knob 3 advances 1 tick

When Knob 5 wraps around, Knob 4 advances 2 ticks, not 1.

What am I missing? I did not connect Knob 4 to Knob 3 yet. I use Named ticks in Knob 5 to trigger the Stepper button to try to advance Knob 4. It triggers at wrap around OK.

How to Connect MIDI Jupiter Xm to iPAD

I thought I had worked this out last year but I have just come back to using my Jupiter-Xm.

I can establish a BlueTooth MIDI connection between iPAD and the JP-Xm

Is it possible to do a MIDI connection with a USB-C Cable to the USB Computer port on the JP-Xm?

And just to clarify - this connection does not allow you to see the names of new scenes that I create on the JP-Xm?

My basic need to start is to be able to set a sound on my V3 Sound Grand Piano XXL sound module. It contains many nice sounds in multiple banks. The sound I need (playing the celesta part in a Nutcracker performance in December) is in what they call bank 3. The basic midi keyboard I have can only send a program change 0-127, with no way to send a bank change. So I want to set up a panel with buttons to select a specific sound bank (send a controller message) and a dial to select a program within then bank. The unit has 6 banks all together, the basic midi set at bank 0, and other types of sounds grouped in banks 1-5. I also want to set up a few shortcut buttons to specific bank/program combinations.

I can see there’s much more I could do. But that’s the basic need to start.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Is there a way to have a control only pick from a short list of cc values, for example:

0: triangle

1: saw

3:square

5: reverse square

32: noise

I use Midi designer Pro 2 v 2.131

I try to use Picker with SYSEX.in order to change values from 00 00 to FF FF on V parameter

So I try Picker from 0 to 999 value

- properties # tick : 1000 ; Min -max 0-> 999

- MIDI Min-> Max : 0-> 999

It works very well but I found a bug about values on output after 127 picker value

127 Picker value send a : 7F 00 on V value ;

128 Picker value send a 00 01 on V value .

I cannot understand why 128 ticker value is not sending 80 00 value.

How can I manage to increase value 7F 00 to 80 00 on 1 tick on Picker design ?

Can a USB midi keyboard control both MD Pro and Hauptwerk simultaneously?

How can I configure a USB midi controller keyboard (Alesis Q61) to control both Midi Designer Pro AND a Hauptwerk organ on a Macbook Pro at the same time? I am able to connect the keyboard directly to my computer and play the HW organ keys. I am also able to connect the keyboard directly to my iPad and control an MD button from a Sustain pedal. I need to connect to both at the same time. In the layout image, the small down and up buttons are supercontrols to the DOWN and UP stepper buttons. They respond to CC 2-64 and 3-64 from 2 different keyboards and advance the DOWN or UP stepper. The button settings image shows what I have configured for one of the small buttons.

I want to be able to trigger the stepper up or down in MD from hardware switches connected to the keyboards Sustain input while playing the organ keys in the computer.

I cannot seem to get this to work right. It´s connected and the Omni hardware 37 map is loaded. The controls seem slugish and tune and modulation does not work as expected... Am I doing something wrong here ?? Omnisphere says it uses NRPN midi standard - can that be the problem ?? How to set this up so it works flawlessly... ??? All the best Morten

Basically I'm sending the correct messages through and I can see the ADSR change as I send Decay and Release lower values but sound doesn't actually change until I turn the knob. It's strange because I've tried it on multiple different pot modes.

I am nearly done with a Layout for the Moog Sub Phatty. I've gotten most of the controls to respond to the outgoing CC's from the editor. But I need help to make the editor read the current settings of the hardware.

If I adjust a setting on the editor, the hardware responds, but if I turn a knob on the hardware, it doesnt change in the editor.

I've set the midi in and outs of both the Ipad and the Sub Phatty.

Can you please help with this problem?

I was recommended here by the Audiobus forum. I am trying to create an editor for the Moog Sub Phatty on the ipad. I was wondering if it is possible to create one that works just like the desktop editor that Moog has. I would want to be able to send PC and CC changes from my midi foot controller to change presets, that way, we would be able to access more than 16 presets without a computer. I am looking to have at least 128 presets. Does Midi Designer Pro work like this?

2.9.0 (201704121101): Sequential Subcontrols issue

I'm noticing when I use 2 sequential subcontrols the supercontrol works correctly. When I add a 3rd sequential subcontrol the values around the transition area are, i.e. the max value of #2 and the min values of #3 are not consistent..

Are there any limitations with the number of sequential subcontrols that can be used?

FYI, my subcontrols are set to bank/program change. I wanted to make one slider for four banks of program changes. The fix was 2 sets of "2 sequential subcontrols with 1 supercontrol. The 2 supercontrols are then subcontrols for one supercontrol. That's the only way I could get it to work correctly.

Controlling mod matrix - one knob three parameters?

So, I started working on an Oberheim matrix 1000 editor and ran into problems with mod matrix. The Sysex string goes something like this:

10 06 0B <mod #> <source> <value> <destination>

For source you have 1-20 things you can pick.

For destination, you have 1-30 or something.

This becomes a problem if you want to be able to set any combination of sources and destinations. You could set one source and destination in the code, hardwired so to speak. But there are a multitude of parameters that can be selected and modulated, so this ruins the point of the mod matrix.

Anyone know how to modify parameters with complex sysex like this?
